Ian Vallejo

Ian was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on May 17, 2015. He went through amputation in June 2015 and had 8 months of chemotherapy. He was declared NED after treatment finished. About 6 months later, there was another tumor found at the base of his spine, in his sacrum. He was treated at the Cleveland clinic where experimental drugs that gave him another year and a half to live. Ian passed away on July 19th 2018 from therapy induced AML leukemia.

Ian knew how to live life fully. Ian talked about how his amazing treatments gave him one of the best 1.5 years of his life. He lived independently, studying his passion (prosthetics and orthotics), fell in love with an amazing woman, made new friends and lived a relatively “normal” life.

He was passionate about climbing, Ian said, "If I can stand, I can climb" when he was trying to convince his mom that he should go climbing after having been paralyzed for months from a tumor at the bottom of his spine.
